Wim Verpoorten Great EP by a group of skilled musicians. I like how the entire EP has a consistent mood, partly because of its top notch production. Looking forward to giving this more listening time, and to more music from this band in the future! Favorite track: Don't Let Anyone In.

"Louche" is the debut EP by Antwerp based Alt country / Indiefolk band Steve Leon & The Accusations. The record fearures 5 tracks, introducing the band's mix of Indie songwriting with arrangements that reflect their love of Folk and Country music. Steve Leon & The Accusations are in this sense equally influenced by British New Wave bands such as The Sound or The Only Ones as by US country classics, landing on a sound that is somewhat reminiscent of the Paisley Underground movement. Imagine Laurel Canyon would lie just North of London, and situate that in the early 80s and you'll get an idea of what the band is aiming for.

Trying so hard to forget all we said, it didn’t mean a thing Hoping to get out of bed not just yet, wait ‘till the pills kick in Don’t let anyone in Don’t let anyone in See how you’re coping not living, just hoping, your dreams still secrets to me Look in the mirror, cringe when you see her, well she, she’s your enemy Dying to be underfed Things can’t get a lot worse than this Tired and scared and depressed I just hope you’ll find the strength to live Don’t let anyone in Don’t let anyone in
2.
I’ve had enough so here’s my trust I’m tired of being scared to lose whenever I love A life in fear it won’t take me near wherever I want to go when I look at you and my walls come tumblin’ down I guess it’s true that I’d know when I ‘d finally find that I’ve been lost since years ago, the restless kind A heart so scared it’s been growing cold And I’ll never say a word to lead you on I’ve been in that place too long I’ll try to mend you when you hurt When the pain’s too strong, you won’t be there alone
3.
Will this prove to be too little too late? Come to think of it why did I even hesitate? Then you said you’d wait They say you always want what you can’t get Now I’m scared as hell you won’t repeat just what I said, because I couldn’t forget Slowly turning to the sun, walking through the mist That’s what you’ve done We haven’t even kissed All this time I’ve just been numb, crawling through my days Without the faintest light I never saw the haze Will this prove to be too little too late? Come to think of it why did I even hesitate? Then you said you’d wait They say you always want what you can’t get Now I’m scared as hell you won’t repeat just what I said, because I couldn’t forget Well some things can’t be undone but I can’t go on like this It takes a fool to want to run from blisss And I’ve never feared the dark When we met that’s where I lived Just took me some time to find it’s light I missed
4.
Walk, before we even talked with all your options open Leaving, not goodbye, with torture on your mind Put on your warmest coat Sad, you’re leaving me like that I heard all words unspoken Even when you lied, I hardly ever tried to figure out the truth Here, here I am, trying to beat you at your game Here, here I am, trying to forget your name You said: don’t look at me like that I was just trying to focus I didn’t love you all the time, but know I really tried, to walk you down that road Perks, pick them up while getting hurt Flowers in a winter garden Even when we’d fight, I never really cried I didn’t see me as your fool Here, here I am, trying to beat you at your game Here, here I am, trying to forget your name Standing in the shadows of love Just a little bit is never enough Here, here I am, trying to beat you at your game Here, here I am, trying to forget your name
5.
You say that I need to prove it’s all in your mind Every tree bearing fruit you’ll see it rot over time I can’t keep trying to fill up that hole you dug yourself If you need lying to go talk to someone else You ‘ve taken all I can give I thought I’d just pull you out And you know I can’t resist That weight, it dragged both of us down There’s nothing anyone can do if you give up the fight Whenever I get through to you it wears off over time I can’t keep trying to fill up that hole you dug yourself If you need lying to go talk to someone else You ‘ve taken all I can give I thought I’d just pull you out And you know I can’t resist That weight, it dragged both of us down
